In a shocking incident in Kalyaninagar on Tuesday morning, Anwar Mehmood Pathan, a labour contractor, was shot twice by an unidentified assailant at the parking lot of D-Mart mall. The victim has sustained serious injuries to his left arm and is receiving treatment in a private medical institute.

Pathan (37), a resident of Nisarg Society in Yerawada, is a member of the Maharashtra Mathadi Sena. He also has got contracts for housekeeping. Yerawada police have detained one person, who had a dispute with Pathan earlier, for questioning.

According to cops, Pathan had kept his car in the parking lot at D-Mart.

While he was heading towards a gym, one of the attackers opened fire on him. The gunman had his faces covered with a handkerchief.

One bullet misfired while the other hit Pathan on the left arm. After firing shots, the accused ran towards the road and fled from the spot on a bike along with his accomplice. Meanwhile, Pathan rushed towards the lift, where a female employee and his friend Abhijit Waghchaure were present. They informed police about the incident and took Pathan to a hospital.
