The woman, a mother of a three-year-old child, was attacked by Ram Gopal with a wooden stick when she resisted his rape bid in north Delhi's Bawana area Friday evening, said a police officer.

"Gopal tried to rape her after finding her alone at a secluded place and beat her up badly when she resisted," said the officer.
A case was registered on the statement given by the victim's husband, police said.
The husband told police that Gopal stalked his wife and also proposed to her.u00a0
