A woman constable has filed an FIR accusing a fellow constable of raping her on the pretext of marriage. In the complaint, the woman has said that the accused is already married, yet promised to marry her.

The 26-year-old woman has stated in her complaint filed with the Bhoiwada police that constable Sachin Chatur, 36, raped and beat her up several times. The woman said that Chatur and she had a love affair from 2015 to 2020, yet Chatur never once told the woman that he was married. She said when she learned that Chatur was married and confronted him, he assaulted her.

Chatur is associated with the Naigaon branch of the local police arm and since the FIR has been lodged, he has been untraceable. Currently, Sachin’s posting is at DB Marg Police Station but he was on deputation at the office of DCP Zone II. The police said that Chatur has switched off his mobile phone since the FIR.
