A shocking incident came to light on Thursday morning when Malwani police recovered the body of a woman in a semi-nude state in the Malwani Church area.

According to officials, the deceased woman, around 46 years old, has been identified. She was a resident of the Charkop area and is survived by her mother, brother, and a 13-year-old daughter.

The body was discovered deep inside a kutcha road, away from the main road, in an area where drainage cover construction work is underway. Police officers from Malwani police station, along with the forensic team, rushed to the spot. The body has been sent to the hospital for a postmortem.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman may have been smothered to death.

Live-in partner brutally attacks woman, tries to strangle child with wire

Meanwhile, a shocking case of domestic violence has come out at Julius Wadi in Malwani, where police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his live-in partner and attempting to strangle his three-and-a-half-year-old son. The man was trying to kill the three-year-old with an electrical wire strangled around him. The swift intervention of the Malwani police saved the life of the mother and the child, preventing an unfortunate incident.

The accused, who was arrested by Malwani police, has been identified as Siddharth Rajkumar Patel (39). According to the police, the 23-year-old complainant, a housewife residing at Hashmi Chawl, Juliuswadi, had been living with the accused in a live-in along with her three-and-a-half-year-old son.

On the day of the incident, Patel allegedly confronted her over a visit from her estranged husband two days earlier. The accused then verbally abused the complainant. Patel further assaulted her and, in a fit of rage, force-fed her Crocin tablets.

He then allegedly threatened to kill her son and tried to strangle the boy with the wire of an extension board. When the complainant screamed for help, the accused assaulted her severely, causing injuries.

Following the woman’s distress call to the police helpline (100), police inspector Jivan Bhatkule, along with his team, rushed to the spot. After reaching the spot, the police officials rescued the victim and her child; they further took the accused into custody.
