Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, on Monday, took oath as the Member of the Legislative Council along with eight others who were declared elected unopposed to the state Legislative Council.

The Shiv Sena chief was sworn in as a Member of the Legislative Council during a private event held in Mumbai which was graced by his wife Rashmi Thackeray and other government officials besides the eight other members of different political parties who were declared elected unopposed last week.

After being elected as the Member of the Legislative Council, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has now become only the second member of the Thackeray family to enter the legislature after his son Aditya Thackeray was elected as MLA from Worli during the Maharashtra Assembly Elections in October 2019.
While Uddhav Thackeray is the Chief Minister of the state, his son Aaditya Thackeray is part of his father's cabinet ministry. Aaditya is currenty the Minister of Tourism and Environment in the Uddhav Thackeray-led Government of Maharashtra.
Soon after taking the oath, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray called on Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan with his wife Rashmi and son Aaditya Thackeray. The Governor congratulated Uddhav on his election as a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council.
