On Monday several locations in Mumbai including Bandra, Andheri, Haji Ali, Dadar, and Navi Mumbai received moderate to heavy rainfall, the SkymetWeather agency predicted heavy to very heavy rains from June 15 to June 18 as monsoon arrived in Maharashtra.
After the city witnessed a dry spell on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the progress of the monsoon has so far been normal and on the expected lines.

IMD Mumbai scientist Shubhangi Bhute, on Sunday said that the monsoon has covered all of Maharashtra. She further said that Konkan, Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha is expected to receive rainfall over the next five days.
In a tweet, SkymetWeather agency said that this year, the onset of monsoon was before time in Kerala. The initial surge to monsoon over the west coast was given by the cyclonic storm Nisarga, the tweet went on to add.

Weather agency IMD has issued a multi hazard warning from June 15 to June 19. The agency also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfalls and isolated extremely heavy rainfalls over Konkan and Goa region.
KS Hosalikar, deputy director general of IMD Mumbai said that the city didn't receive much expected rains after its monsoon onset.
Ahead of the monsoon season, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) set up a 24-hour Emergency Control Room. The Control Room which became operational from June 8 will be open up to October 15, 2020.
The MMRDA Control Room has been set up with a view to minimise inconvenience to the vehicular and pedestrian traffic at various project sites being implemented by the authority.
