Bollywood actor Sunny Deol, the BJP candidate from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat on Thursday offered prayers at the Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak at Gurdaspur before hitting the campaign trail. Accompanied by BJP leader Kamal Sharma, Deol offered prayers at the Gurdwara Dera Baba Nanak and had a glimpse of the Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan through binoculars installed at 'darshan sthal'
Kartarpur Sahib is located in Pakistan's Narowal district across the river Ravi, about four kilometres from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine. Both India and Pakistan had agreed to build the Kartarpur corridor to facilitate devotees to offer prayers at the historic Gurudwara Darbar Sahib - the final resting place of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev- in Pakistan's town of Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab's Gurdaspur district. Sunny Deol also went to Prachin Shiv Temple in Kalanaur in Gurdaspur to offer prayers
It was a tough time for security personnel to tackle the crowd who were keen to meet the Bollywood actor and get photos clicked with him at the Shiv temple. For a brief period, Deol appeared through the sunroof panel of his vehicle and accepted flowers, bouquets and garlands from the people gathered to get a glimpse of him.

Talking to reporters, Sunny Deol said creating employment opportunities for the youth will be his main priority. "The most important issue is our youth. Youth is our foundation. I want to create job opportunities for them," he said in his first media interaction after being named as the BJP candidate for the Gurdaspur seat.
Sunny Deol, the national award winner for his movies "Ghayal" and "Damini", said he wanted to work for the welfare of the farmers. "We belong to Punjab and farming is in our blood. Sunny Deol's fans and supporters jostled to get a glimpse of him. People showered flower petals and garlands to welcome Sunny Deol, who raised slogans of 'Jo bole so nihal' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. He was accompanied by his younger brother and actor Bobby Deol
Several BJP leaders, including former Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma and Akali leader Gurbachan Singh Babehali, were also part of the roadshow. However, there was no senior leader from Akali Dal present. "We are happy to be here and we are very happy for getting such a response. We are getting a lot of love and we will continue to get the same," Sunny Deol's brother Bobby Deol said
Sunny Deol had returned to Gurdaspur from Mumbai on Wednesday and met families of martyrs at Shadipur village in Dinanagar. "I have already said that you stay in my heart. I want to work towards meeting all your needs and requirements. I am not saying just for the sake of making a statement. I want everyone to be happy and have a smile on their face," he said on Wednesday night. People showered flower petals to welcome Sunny Deol.
Bobby Deol accompanied Sunny Deol at the road show which passed through Gurdaspur and Pathankot roads. "My papa (Dharmendra), my brother and our family always get love here. The response to the roadshow clearly shows how much people like us," Bobby Deol said. "We are happy to be here and we are very happy for getting such a response. We are getting a lot of love and we will continue to get the same," he said
Asked whether veteran actor Dharmendra will visit Gurdaspur to campaign for Sunny Deol, he said, "everyone would come". Both the brothers have acted together in several movies like 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', 'Apne' and 'Poster Boys'. The roadshow attracted people in large number who wanted to have a closer look of Sunny Deol and get a selfie clicked with him.
