These sculptures have been crafted using discarded metal sourced from construction sites and automotive junkyards.
The park is embellished with a diverse array of metal sculptures, featuring the iconic Indian Peacock, the American Bison, the regal Brazilian Jaguar, the Saudi Arabian Camel, the Korean Magpie, the Australian Kangaroo, the Russian Brown Bear, and the unique Indonesian Komodo Dragon, among other captivating creations.
Every sculpture is meticulously crafted by hand, serving as a testament to the idea that waste materials can be transformed into beautiful artistic objects in a tasteful manner.
The artists employed a wide range of discarded materials such as iron bars, automobile components, metal plates, wire mesh, rims, chains, bearing balls, and various other pieces of junk to meticulously handcraft these sculptures.
"These sculptures were created by top artists as part of a collaboration between NDMC and Lalit Kala Academy and are the best representation of the waste-to-art project," Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said, while officially opening the park.
The idea for this waste-to-art park was conceived in December 2022, and to bring it to fruition, the NDMC joined forces with the Lalit Kala Academy. In April of this year, twenty-five distinguished artists hailing from various parts of the country initiated the creation of sculptures during an artist camp held at Lalit Kala Academy in Garhi Village, Delhi. Following the completion of the sculptures, the park's landscaping phase commenced in July.
