In an interview Ketaki said, 'I was raised in a military background, my grandfather, father and uncle were all in the army. I am positive that if I didn't have my rugby dream, I would have served in the Indian army.'

In the interview she added that it was her mother who wncouraged her to pursue sports, unlike most Indians. She added, 'It was not until I had tried gymnastics, karate, bharatanatyam, athletics, competitive swimming, that I finally set my heart on judo.'

But things were about to change for the talented sports woman. She says that after she won a medal at the national games, she had a fall out with her coach which majorly imapcted her life
She decided to give up Judo and with that all other sports. Ketaki says, it took a drastic change in ther life to bring her back to the world of fitness

In an interview Ketaki Khare said, 'I was on the brink of losing myself on a path of darkness when the timely intervention of my rugby coaches jolted me back. They insisted that I start training for the first ever women's rugby game that was about to be held.'

Just as she was on the path of recovery and stepping back into the world of sports, Ketaki said that another shocker was when her father passed away in 2012.
