'Typical case of media going overboard'

The story about a senior player complaining that juniors didn't feel bad enough for India's Champions Trophy disaster has been labelled as, "a typical case of the media picking up something to play up" by BCCI CAO Professor Ratnakar Shetty.

Shetty said he used the Champions Trophy example to illustrate a point in his speech on the survival of Test cricket during the Legends Club meeting at the CCI. "Clearly, this has been blown out of proportion.u00a0u00a0 What I was trying to highlight was that, while we do well in bilateral series, we also have to perform at international events.

"I also stressed how everyone started wondering whether Sehwag would be a successful Test batsman after his ODI start but Sehwag has scored two Test triple hundreds," he said.
