Former Test great Allan Border has praised India's cricketing chiefs for showing the right kind of interest to organise a Test series against his country.

"The long form of the game is under the pump and it's good to see that India's taken a really pro-active step to stop the endless one-day series and get Tests back to the forefront, where it needs to be right now," Border told the The Sun Herald recently.

He also felt that the series comes as a good relief to the game enveloped in recent controversy. "This series takes on a greater significance given the battering cricket's been copping over the last little while. It's a series that's grown in status over the years," he said.

From 1996, Australia and India have fought for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
