Saraswati Education's (Thane) Aryan Bapat, 15, was the standout performer in the NT Kelkar Trophy, an inter-school U-16 cricket tournament, which concluded yesterday. Bapat, who started playing with leather ball just eight months ago, claimed 15 wickets with his off-spin and scored the only century of the tournament.

In the first match, Aryan claimed five wickets without conceding a run. His all-round show in the quarter-final (136 and 5-47) helped his school cruise into the semis. In the final, he slammed a half-century and claimed three wickets, but ended up on the losing side with a five-wicket defeat against Sri Ma Vidyalaya (Thane).
