An Australian cricket fan touched the heart of England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow in Adelaide when he handed him a pair of wicketkeeping gloves signed by his late father, former England 'keeper David Bairstow, during England's 1978-79 tour. Bairstow Sr, played four Tests and 21 ODIs for England between 1979-1984, before he ended his life battling depression in 1998, when Jonny was just eight.

Yesterday, Adelaide resident Andrew Johns, who received the gloves when he was a child, was invited to the team hotel to meet Jonny.
"A chap called Andrew messaged me on Instagram. He had a pair of gloves signed by dad in 1978-79. It's a fantastic gesture," Bairstow told ABC Grandstand ahead of play on Day Three of the second Ashes Test.
