One of the biggest decisions to come out in yesterday's IPL Governing Council meeting was that all player contracts will now be directly managed by BCCI.
"We want to take care of our players. These players are only eligible to play IPL and Champions League tournaments under these contracts, and not eligible for any other match," IPL Vice-Chairman Niranjan Shah told MiD DAY.u00a0 "During the off-season, none of the franchises can have access to the players for practice sessions, endorsements or any other matches. A player can entertain a franchise only after taking consent from state association and BCCI."
However, a member of Delhi Daredevils' management, who prefers to remain anonymous, said it was just a way for BCCI to remind the players that playing for India comes first. "It doesn't really mean anything at all. All contracts are in a format that is strictly laid down by BCCI. All contracts go back to IPL for approval anyway.
