New Delhi: There were lots of hugs and handshakes outside Court Number 5 of the Supreme Court yesterday after its interim order handed the legendary opener Sunil Gavaskar charge of IPL-7 and allowed Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to participate in the competition.

“We are very happy that the game has not been affected as preparations for IPL-7 are in full swing,” BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel told mid-day.

“I don’t think there will be any problem working with Mr Sunil Gavaskar. I will meet him soon and we will chalk out plans for the tournament,” added Patel. Another man celebrating was IPL CEO Sundar Raman. He was seen shaking hands with N Srinivasan’s close aide Kashi Viswanath.

Supreme Court’s key observations

On CSK and RR
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal have not been barred from taking part with six other teams in the Indian Premier League beginning April 16 in Dubai.

On N Srinivasan’s fate in ICC
The bench refused to pass any order on BCCI’s request that Srinivasan be allowed to take over as Chairman of the International Cricket Council in July.

On India Cements officials in BCCI
None of the employees of India Cements or its associate companies except cricketers and commentators will perform any of the duties assigned to them by the BCCI.

On Sundar Raman’s role as IPL CEO
Gavaskar will decide whether Sundar Raman, IPL Chief Operating Officer would continue in IPL-7 or any other arrangement has to be made in his place. “In case of any difficulty Mr Gavaskar may apply to this court for appropriate orders,” the court’s order said.
