Bhajji confronts curator

At the end of the second Test against New Zealand yesterday, India spinners Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha approached curator Y L Chandreshekhar, to find out the reason for lack of turn on the fifth and final day's play.

"There was heavy rain before the game, and that prevented us from preparing a proper wicket," was Chandreshekhar's reply to the spin twins.

After the conversation, India's batting star Harbhajan, who scored his second consecutive Test century earlier in the game, took a stump as a souvenir.

Later, MiD DAY learnt that the curator was keen on preparing a new pitch by changing the soil. Meanwhile, just as India skipper MS Dhoni was walking back to the dressing room after his post-match press conference, Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) vice-president, Shivlal Yadav, approached him. The former India off-spinner asked Dhoni for a few suggestions on how to improve the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. It is learnt that Dhoni said... a) it was imperative to have a wall clock at the stadium, b) an electronic scoreboard c) and lastly, improvement was necessary in all technical areas.
