Brisbane: James Anderson is likely to return to the England side against India today.

Anderson has been continuing his recovery from a niggling knee injury and missed England's final warm-up against a Prime Minister's XI as well as Friday's defeat by Australia in Sydney.

With early swing so important with the white ball, Anderson is key to England's World Cup plans and they must balance building his match sharpness with preventing a relapse.

They have erred on the side of caution thus far, but after taking part in two full training sessions at the Gabba, he looks set for a comeback against the Indians.

He has been charging in at good pace and his presence in a slip-fielding drill on the eve of the match appeared to be a nod towards the selection plan.
