Major, it is learnt, booked a box named after former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar to witness the 100th Test between India and England.

Vengsarkar was informed by Major yesterday that he watched most of his innings from the same spot at the historic ground. Vengsarkar is the only non Englishman to score three hundreds at Lord's. He did so on India's 1979, 1982 and 1986 tours and was part of India's playing XI in the 1990 Test.
It was not the first time Major met his favourite cricketer. "We met when he came down to the Cricket Club of India with Raj Singh Dungarpur," Vengsarkar told MiD DAY. Major was also chief of the Surrey County Cricket Club.
