Indian women team's vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur is quite happy to get a few practice games in South Africa, something which the men's team could not avail of in the Rainbow Nation, where they have surrendered the Test series. Kaur's team will figure in three ODIs and five T20 internationals in South Africa, starting February 5.

"We will get some time to get used to the wickets and conditions. We will have a camp of four to five days before a couple of practice games. This will definitely help us to get ready for the main series," Kaur said on Saturday. The swashbuckling right-handed batswoman is in the city with the Mithali Raj-led team for a camp as a part of the team's preparation for the series against the Proteas.
Kaur, 28, felt that her experience of playing the Big Bash in Australia will come in handy. "I didn't get enough matches, but I was practising on wickets which will be similar to South Africa," she said. Kaur, who helped India reach the final of the 2017 World Cup with a brilliant 171 in the semi-final against Australia in England, praised Mumbai's promising batswoman Jemimah Rodrigues, who has now made the India team. "Jemimah is a really good young talent. The way she has been performing is impressive. If she gets a chance in South Africa she will play a crucial part for the team," said Kaur.
On Saturday, Rodrigues played in the Mumbai under-16 boys team which played a practice game against the Indian women's team and scored a hundred at the Wankhede Stadium. She smashed 14 fours and two sixes in her 103-ball knock against an attack that included Jhulan Goswami and Shikha Pandey. India now have a great chance to shrug off their 2017 World Cup disappointment.
