Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has released a statement on the club's official website, clarifying his recent remarks that he wants to quit football after three years.
The 29-year-old created a sensation when he told the Vanity Fair magazine that he wanted to retire from the professional game after three years, explaining, "Three years at the maximum. You have to stop when you are at the top."
However, the Sweden international hitman has now tried to control the damage and calm the Milan fans by assuring them that he wants to carry on playing indefinitely.
"It is not my intention to stop playing in three years, especially as my contract with Milan only expires in 2014," Ibrahimovic told Milan's official website.
"I'd also like to point out that my transfer to Barcelona in the summer of 2009 was wanted exclusively by me."
