Indian team mourn death of u-19 trainer Rajesh Sawant and Mohammad Shami's dad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday condoled the passing away of India U-19 cricket team fitness trainer Rajesh Sawant who was found dead in a private hotel yesterday morning

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) yesterday condoled the passing away of India U-19 cricket team fitness trainer Rajesh Sawant who was found dead in a private hotel yesterday morning.

“BCCI regrets to inform that India U-19 strength and conditioning trainer Rajesh Sawant passed away, in his sleep, in Mumbai, yesterday morning. Sawant was on national duty with the India U-19 team preparing for the series against the touring England U-19 team. Sawant, 45, is survived by his wife and daughter,” the Board said in statement.


The Indian team, as a mark of respect wore black bands to mourn the death of Sawant as well as pacer Mohammed Shami's father, during yesterday's T20 international against England at Nagpur.



Shami's father Tousif Ali passed away after suffering a heart attack on Friday.

“On behalf of the BCCI, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and our prayers are with them, to overcome this irreparable loss,” BCCI Joint Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary said in the statement.
