Mumbai Indians joy of reaching their maiden Indian Premier League final was dampened a bit by the injury to their inspirational skipper Sachin Tendulkar.
The champion batsman injured the webbing in his right hand when he took a low catch off Rahul Dravid in the fourth over of the Royal Challengers Bangalore innings. The catch was however, over-ruled by the television umpire.
It is learnt that Tendulkar required five stitches which him makes a doubtful starter for the final on Sunday.
"We hope he plays in the final. We all expect him to play. But few things are not in our control, so let's be patient and wait for two days," vice-captain Zaheer Khan said after Mumbai's 35-run win in the semi-final.
If Mumbai Indians win the final, it will be an ideal birthday gift for Tendulkar who will complete 37 years on April 24, a day before the final.
"We have reached the final and all the credit goes to Tendulkar," said Zaheer.
