ST Xavier's Boys Academy, Fort ended their U-16 MSSA inter-school football match against Sundatta English, Grant Road at Azad Maidan on Saturday believing they were robbed of a penalty and full three points.
Unfortunately for the Fort boys, the match ended in a goalless draw.
The highlight of the match came in a shabby second half tackle by defenders, Nassir Shaikh and Swapnil Kadam, who brought down Academy striker Bhavya Mehta just inside the circle.
However, even as Bhavya was left growling in pain and thereafter had to be carried off the field, the referee showed him a yellow card for play-acting. Interestingly, on seeing his rival crying in pain, Nassir too joined him, making loud grunts. But he was up and running as soon as the referee approached the scene.
Bhavya took no further part in the match and was left disgruntled on the sidelines. Barely able to walk, he was helped by his friends into a taxi after the match.
"It was a penalty. One of the guys pushed me from behind and the other from front. My calf was caught between them and it is hurting very badly. This is very disappointing," stated Bhavya.
Meanwhile, Swapnil admitted it was a foul but felt it didn't merit a penalty. "It didn't occur inside the box so I don't think it was a penalty," said Kadam.
