Apart from a change in luck, Shah Rukh Khan is hoping his new purple coloured jerseys will attract more women following for his Kolkata Knight Riders team.
After two flop seasons in the Indian Premier League, the KKR team has changed its colours from black and gold to purple and gold. The new jersey was unveiled in Mumbai yesterday.
The Bollywood superstar denied that superstition was a reason behind the change, but said he wanted his team to make a fresh start and hence all the changes. "We have not changed because of superstition," Shah Rukh said.
"I am told the girls like it (the purple colour). So we hope to make a lot of money and have the girls on our side and hopefully we will win," said the movie star in a lighter vein while introducing his players to the media.
Shah Rukh said he wanted his team to leave the past behind.
"It's difficult to be upbeat when you are not doing well but that is where I come in. We can't keep on living with what happened in the last two years and keep on thinking 'aisa hua, waisa hua'. I want the team to make a fresh start," said Shah Rukh.
Skipper Sourav Ganguly said: "I want the team to play freely; have fun, and let there be no pressure on anyone."
