MCA calls coach, selectors to discuss Ranji debacle

Mumbai: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has postponed its Managing Committee meeting scheduled for Friday where it was likely to decide on the recommendations of the Technical Committee which suggested replacing coach Sulakshan Kulkarni and the Deepak Jadhav-led selection panel after the Ranji Trophy debacle.

The Managing Committee meeting will now be held on January 27. The MCA has scheduled another Technical Committee meeting on Friday where the coach and selectors have also been called. “We have called the coach and selectors for the Technical Committee meeting. We would take their feedback and review what went wrong,” Nitin Dalal, MCA’s Joint Honorary Secretary, told MiD DAY yesterday.

When asked why would there be a review after the Technical Committee gave its recommendations, Dalal said: “We don’t know what will happen in the meeting.” The Technical Committee had recommended replacing coach Kulkarni with Lalchand Rajput, who is a part of the Committee, for the remaining two tournaments in the season, and also wanted a new selection panel that would select the teams for one-dayers and T20 tournaments.
