Meet Tymal Mills -- the fastest bowler in England right now

England pacer Tymal Mills is set to make his international debut today vs Sri Lanka. The 23-year-old Sussex left-arm quick has a congenital back condition that prevents him from playing even four-day cricket -- and by default Test cricket.

Mills is considered the fastest English pacer and has regularly clocked above 94 miles per hour for Sussex.

Mills first came into the limelight after beating Chris Gayle for pace and rattling his middle stump in a T20 game against Somerset last month.

He can only play the shorter forms of the game owing to a genetic back condition. His spinal cord and vertebrae are unusually close together and bowling fast too often can agitate his spinal cord.

The back problem diagnosed was diagnosed in 2015 effectively forcing his retirement from first-class cricket at the age of 22.

Mills has taken 25 T20 wickets at 18.32, with an economy of 7.94, since joining Sussex ahead of the 2015 season.

The left-arm speedster once sent England veteran Graeme Swann to hospital after a ferocious 94.5mph bouncer smacked him on the arm.

His full name is Tymal Solomon Mills.

HERE'S MILLS IN THE NETS:

Mills has a personalised training programme devised by Pete Atkinson, England's lead strength and conditioning coach.

Born on August 12, 1992, in Dewsbury, Yorkshire, Mills only started playing cricket when he was 14 -- and it was another two years before it became a serious part of his life.

He progressed fast as by the age of 19 he was part of the Essex first team.

He gave up on a career of journalism to give cricket his all. He had taken up a journalism course at the University of East London before joing the Essex first XI.

He had a dismal record of six Championship wickets at 66.33 in the 2013 season.

HERE'S THE VIDEO OF MILLS BOWLING GAYLE:

The 2016 T20 Blast season saw him produced some great spells -- 3 for 15 against Kent; 1 for 15 also vs Kent; 2 for 11 vs Somerset.

He was used as a net bowler during the 2013-14 Ashes tour.

This is what England skipper Eoin Morgan has to say about Mills:

Tymal is bowling pretty quickly at the minute... I didn’t face him in the nets, but I’ve faced him before and I know exactly what he can do... If he lives up to expectation he’ll be pretty dangerous. If we could have more than one guy who can do that it would be great, but he seems to be a lot quicker than our next quickest at the moment... I saw that ball to Gayle on a vine and it looked quick. I’d love it if he could bowl like that all the time, but I understand that the ability to bowl 90 miles an hour doesn’t come easy.
