After facing flak for posting a photo of a Shiva Linga while sending out a New Year message on social media, cricketer Mohammed Shami succumbed to the online pressure and deleted his tweet.

Some of the trolls described Shami's message as un-Islamic and accused him of allegedly defying the traditions of his religion. He had tweeted the now-deleted picture (above) with the message, "As the New Year renews all happiness and good tidings, hope the joyful spirit keeps glowing in your heart forever! Happy New Year! 2018 to you and family."
