The French capital club has said that it had received between 700,000 and one million requests for tickets for the last-eight first leg tie at the Parc des Princes, which has a capacity of just 45,000.
Touts stepped in as club switchboards and the ticket office went into meltdown, selling black-market tickets for hundreds of euros in the vicinity of the ground.
But astronomical sums have also been recorded on Internet ticket sites.
On auction site eBay, the asking price ranged from 150 euros to 1,400 euros.
