Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are not the only bodies opposing the abolition of the rotation policy for the International Cricket Council presidency.
The ICC deferred its decision on whether to scrap its controversial rotational presidency until October.
"Many countries are not comfortable with the abolition of this system," said a top ICC official. Cricket South Africa (CSA), West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) are keen to retain the rotation policy until the completion of the current cycle. Had there been a voting situation, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), would have abstained from voting. Insiders say BCCI secretary and president elect N Srinivasan is keen to have Shashank Manohar as ICC vice president after Alan Issac's term is completed, it is learnt. "There was a long debate on this subject," said a source. The PCB had brought their legal advisor, Taffazul Rizvi to guide chairman Ijaz Butt.
Interestingly, none of the top BCCI officials were present at the ICC-organised gala dinner. Though it was not a boycott, as claimed by one source, all other boards were represented.
