Pat Cummins is sounding increasingly confident that Mitchell Starc will be back from injury to partner him in Australia's pace attack on their home ground tomorrow. Starc sat out last week's bore draw in Melbourne because of a bruised heel, and Australia are likely to be cautious about his return as they plan ahead to this winter's second high-profile Test series in South Africa.
The left-armer remains the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Ashes, however — and after spending several days after the Perth Test on crutches last month, he was back bowling at full speed again in the Sydney nets yesterday. "He looked like he was bowling quick," said Cummins.

"He was running around and wasn't limping. I know he was really keen to play, and he was pretty confident. I think now it's seeing how it recovers. "We hope he gets through today and he's all right," he added. The two New South Wales fast bowlers have taken 34 wickets between them to help Australia regain the urn, with an unassailable 3-0 lead. He acknowledges no chances will be taken with Starc, but senses his injury is not as bad.
