MSK Prasad played in six Tests and 17 ODIs, but is best remembered for sharing his birthday with Sachin Tendulkar. "I feel proud to be born on Sachin Tendulkar's birthday on April 24 (in 1975) and thus be remembered by the game's lovers," the former India wicketkeeper said from Vijayawada on the eve of his 36th birthday on Saturday.
"I am a devotee of Lord Hanuman and Hanuman's mother was Anjani, Anjaneya in our mother tongue (Telugu)," he said.
Prasad never got to celebrate his birthday along with Tendulkar. "We did play together, but we never played a match together on April 24. But while cutting the cake, our family always remembers that it's Sachin's birthday too."
Today, Tendulkar would be closer to Prasad's hometown, in Hyderabad to play the Indian Premier League match for Mumbai Indians against Deccan Chargers. But Prasad wouldn't be able to be with his former India teammate.
"Sachin was always helpful and a guiding force to me. He used to advice me never to lose my temper even in a difficult situations," said Prasad, who toured Australia in 1999-2000.
