England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh in the second and final cricket Test at Old Trafford here today.

England made one enforced change to the side that beat Bangladesh by eight wickets at Lord's on Monday, handing a Test debut to pace bowler Ajmal Shahzad.

He replaced injured Yorkshire colleague Tim Bresnan, out with a foot injury. The 24-year Shahzad, who has played one Twenty20 and one-day international, became England's 650th Test match cricketer, having previously been the first British-born Asian to play for Yorkshire.

England left out left-arm quick Ryan Sidebottom from their 12-man squad. Bangladesh, as coach Jamie Siddons indicated yesterday, made two changes with seamer Shafiul Islam and left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak replacing the dropped pace bowling duo of Robiul Islam and Rubel Hossain.

Teams: England: Andrew Strauss (capt), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matthew Prior (wkt), Graeme Swann, Ajmal Shahzad, James Anderson, Steven Finn.

Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Jahurul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Mushfiqur Rahim (wkt), Mohammad Mahmudullah, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Islam.
