UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday congratulated the Indian team for their victory in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.

Extending her good wishes to every member of the team, the Congress leader said their achievement was a matter of immense pride for the country.

"The nation's rich cricketing tradition had yet again been upheld and it's a matter of satisfaction that the young boys showed great promise of carrying forward the legacy," she said in a statement.

India overpowered Australia by eight wickets in the final to claim the ICC U19 World Cup for a record fourth time on Saturday.
