When Kieron Pollard took his giant strides to the middle in the ninth over, joining Ambati Rayudu, Mumbai needed 121 runs with a required rate towering towards 12.

To make things worse, half the side was back in the dugout. But both the Mumbai batters turned the game on its heads and put on a scintillating, unbeaten stand of 122 in 10.5 overs to steer the ship home in the last over.

Earlier, Bangalore Royal Challengers amassed 171 runs thanks to a sparkling, unbeaten knock of 64 by Mayank Agarwal, who blasted Munaf Patel for 24 runs in the last over of the innings. In reply, Mumbai were in trouble, tottering at 51-5. But Rayudu and Pollard did not lose hope and finished with 81 not out and 52 not out respectively. Needing 14 of the last over, it took them just four deliveries to wrap up one of the most thrilling finishes of the IPL. u00a0
