With only a day to go for the Board of Control for Cricket in India's Working Committee meeting here, uncertainty prevails over who will chair the crucial meeting.

Uncertainty prevails over who will preside over BCCI Working Committee meeting

It is being widely speculated that the BCCI’s president-in-exile N Srinivasan who was exonerated of any wrong doing by the two-member probe panel in the spot fixing episode will return to the helm. But Srinivasan refused to speculate about Friday’s proceedings.

He refused to comment on whether he has taken over as the BCCI president again, bluntly telling the waiting mediamen to stop ‘hounding’ him.

“I can’t reply, don’t hound me like this,” Srinivasan told reporters in Chennai when asked about his reported comeback at the helm of the BCCI.

There was no official communication from the BCCI on the issue as well. Some of Board’s officials claimed they were not aware of any developments about the proposed meeting.

Srinivasan is keen to come back arguing that the probe panel has given him a clean chit. On the other hand, hearing a PIL on Tuesday, the Bombay High Court ruled that the BCCI’s probe panel was illegal and unconstitutional and their findings have no bearing on the case that is being pursued by the Delhi Police and their Mumbai counterparts.

Unfazed by the Court order, Srinivasan had made it clear that he will attend the Working Committee meeting today which is expected to draw up the future course of action.

The Bombay High Court order has created a lot of confusion within the Board and interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya has no clue yet as to who will chair the Working Committee meeting.

“Who will chair August 2 meeting? I myself do not know where is the chair... Let me first understand where do I stand... I do not have any information officially. This however does not mean there is some difference with the BCCI,” Dalmiya had said.
