Vaishnav Narvekar scored an unbeaten century to help IES VN Sule Guruji enter the final of the Giles Shield Elite Division inter-school cricket tournament by virtue of a 130-run first innings lead against Anjuman-I-Islam

Sule Guruji posted 409 in their first stint after which spinners Dhruva Vedak and Sanath Nakte took five and four wickets respectively to dismiss Anjuman for 279 off 92.4 overs.

Yesterday, Vaishnav, who has been a consistent performer for Sule Guruji having amassed 621 runs in the tournament this far, played a composed knock that saw the Dadar team declare on 223-5 after the tea break.

Sule Guruji face Al-Barkaat MMI English School (Kurla) in the summit clash in the first week of March and Vaishnav is now eyeing a final flourish.

“We lost to them in the DSO final but I’m in good form this time. If I can get some runs in the final and we beat them, it will be just perfect,” said Vaishnav.
