Poor bowling at the death and gifting wickets early in the run chase were the main reasons for Kolkata Knight Riders' 55-run loss to Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, captain Sourav Ganguly said today.

Ganguly said they lost the plot by conceding 68 runs in the last five overs of CSK innings and then compounded their woes by losing quick wickets while chasing 165 in their third match at the Eden Gardens here.

"We were not up to the mark in last five overs, gave away 60-odd runs. then we kept losing wickets in run chase. We have to address that. Last four-five overs (of CSK innings) took the game away from us," said Ganguly after his side ended their two-game winning streak.

In the IPL-I also, Ganguly's men had a two-match winning run before losing the plot against CSK to finish sixth in the eight-team tournament but Ganguly said they were better prepared this time.

"Not really. Hopefully it's not (this time around). This is a game of cricket. We would not be winning everyday. Hope to come back in the next game," Ganguly said.

"Everyday is a new day. We have two wins out of three we hope to turn it around in the next game," he added. Ganguly said losing the toss did not have any impact on KKR because he would have opted to field first on a slow Eden pitch had called the coin correctly.

No, I would have fielded. Wicket is slow at the Eden. It's always going to be slow at the Eden Gardens," he said.

Asked whether KKR missed a fifth bowler, Ganguly said, "We have five bowlers with Brad Hodge and Laxmi Ratan Shukla.

Probably we could have bowled Hodge a few more overs." Impressed with Kiwi fast bowler Shane Bond who played his first game today, Ganguly said, "His first game. I thought he did well till the last couple of overs."
