So, former Pakistan skipper Younis Khan has been recalled in the national team for the ODIs against South Africa in the UAE later this month. His form will decide his fate for the Test series against the Proteas. Younis was available for all selections after burying differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ijaz Butt in a meeting on Wednesday.

Though former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas hailed Younis' inclusion in the team, he was unsure about how long he will keep his place in the side. "The PCB has taken many U-turns earlier as well. They are known for doing this. What can I say about it ufffd it's become a habit it seems," Abbas told MiD DAY from Pakistan.

"They recall any player as and when they feel. However, I am really happy that Younis has been recalled. It is good for Pakistan cricket," he said.

"There was some misunderstanding and I am happy that it is over now, which has helped me focus on my cricket.

"I have joined the training camp and am fit to play as soon as I am given the chance. I am eager to do my best for the team," Younis was quoted by news agencies yesterday.

Younis was banned for an indefinite period in the aftermath of a disastrous tour to Australia in 2009-10.

The PCB way
The PCB came down heavily on five senior players after the Australia tour. Shoaib Malik, Umar and Kamran Akmal and Shahid Afridi were initially banned and penalised. However, their fines were reduced and bans lifted.

Rana Naved ul Hasan's one-year ban was lifted within 10 months. And Mohammad Yousuf, who announced his retirement after being sacked, was reinstated in the team during the troubled tour to England recently.u00a0Misbah-ul-Haq, who played his last ODI in September 2009 and last Test in January 2010, was made Test captain recently.
