He may be struggling in the limited overs format of the game, but Yuvraj Singh is likely to be picked in the Indian Test side for the three-match Sri Lanka series starting July 18. The Kris Srikkanth-led national selection committee will meet in Chennai today to pick the team for India's upcoming Test series.
Yuvraj was dropped from the Asia Cup one-day tournament because of poor form and fitness as the selectors felt he needed to be served a reminder against taking his place for granted. But the selectors have faith in Yuvraj and believe that the left-hand batsman is a regular, dependable player, who is a proven match-winner and a certainty in the playing XI. Meanwhile, he played local cricket in Delhi and worked hard on his fitness and game at the National Cricket Academy.
The selectors are also very happy with Suresh Raina. The Uttar Pradesh batsman will be rewarded with a place in the 16. Rain though will have to wait for his opportunity to be in the playing XI because of the packed middle-order which includes Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
S Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma will be part of the pace department spearheaded by Zaheer Khan.
