In the first Test of the Ashes series against Australia, England was bowled out for 172 runs in 32.5 overs on Day 1 at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Having opted to bat first, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett opened the innings for England. Crawley failed to open his account as he was dismissed after facing six balls, whereas Duckett returned to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs off 20 balls, with the help of four boundaries.
Ollie Pope fell short by just four runs of completing his half-century. Facing 58 deliveries, he scored 46 runs, which was laced with four boundaries. England's stalwart Joe Root departed on a seven-ball duck.

Mark Wood was dismissed on his very first ball, and Jofra Archer stayed unbeaten without scoring any runs in one ball.
Australia's Mitchell Starc showcased immense skills with the ball. Bowling 12.5 overs, he claimed seven wickets by conceding 58 runs. He took 100 Ashes wickets, becoming the first-ever left-arm pacer to reach the milestone.
He is the 21st bowler overall to reach the landmark. Also, his strike rate of 45.03 is the best among these 21 bowlers. The top three Ashes wicket-takers are: Late Aussie spin wizard Shane Warne (195 wickets in 36 matches at an average of 23.25), Glenn McGrath (157 wickets in 30 matches at an average of 20.92), and England's Stuart Broad (153 wickets in 40 matches at an average of 28.96).
Brendan Doggett bagged two wickets for 27 runs in seven overs. Cameron Green, too, chipped in with one scalp for 10 runs in one over.
Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon went wicketless in England's first innings. Boland was smashed for 62 runs in his spell of 10 overs, and Lyon leaked 10 runs in two overs.
