Fakhar Zaman, the opener for Pakistan, was suspended for two PSL games for violating the code of conduct by altering the ball's condition.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the match referee found Fakhar guilty of a level three offence, breaching Article 2.14 of the applicable Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during the PSL match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings.
The ball was altered prior to the beginning of the last over of Karachi Kings' batting innings, and the suspected ball tampering incident happened shortly before the final over began when the on-field umpires penalised Lahore Qalandars for five runs.
The accusation was levelled by TV umpire Asif Yaqoob, fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed, and on-field umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi.
In compliance with the Code of Conduct, Fakhar contested the charge and denied the offence during a full disciplinary process.
After examining all the evidence and giving Fakhar a chance for a private hearing, match referee Roshan Mahanama held the disciplinary hearing and made a decision. At the hearing were team manager Farooq Anwar, team director Sameen Rana, and captain Shaheen Shah Afridi of the Lahore Qalandars.
Lahore Qalandars are next scheduled to face Multan Sultans on April 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium and Islamabad United on April 9 at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Meanwhile, Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi was fined one million rupees by the Lahore Qalandars management for violating PSL security regulations at the team hotel in Lahore.
Naseem Shah fined by PCB for now-deleted social media post
After Naseem Shah posted a social media post criticising Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fined him 20 million Pakistani rupees ($71,488) for violating several provisions of his central contract and social media standards.
The fast bowler was disciplined for questioning Nawaz's attendance at the Pakistan Super League's opening match, which is being played behind closed doors as the nation struggles with a fuel crisis, in a now-deleted post on X.
The PCB, led by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, gave Shah a show-cause notice before imposing what local media have described as the biggest financial penalty in Pakistani cricket history, which is roughly equal to eight months of Shah's central contract income.
