Mitchell’s all-round show (36 not out and 5-59) helps New Zealand beat the Netherlands by 99 runs for second win in tournament

It was a no-show by the Netherlands as New Zealand’s juggernaut rolled on at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, on Monday. New Zealand emerged winners by 99 runs.
Left-hander Mitchell Santner (36 and 5-59) stamped his authority with an all-round performance while fashioning New Zealand’s second successive win. His blitzkrieg with the bat and then his skill set with the ball derailed the Netherlands. Chasing 323 for victory, the Dutch put up a meek display against a purposeful and incisive pace-spin attack of the Black Caps. The Dutch were bowled out for 223.

Last-match hero Bas de Leede had a poor outing, both with the bat and ball. Colin Ackermann was the lone batter to put up some resistance with 69, but he was involved in a horrible mix up with Teja Nidamanuru.
Huge sixes
Earlier, Santner revelled as a finisher by hitting an unbeaten 36 off 17 balls (3x4, 2x6) to propel New Zealand to 322 for 7. The left-hander slid gracefully into the familiar role and ended the New Zealand innings with two huge sixes.
For the Netherlands, all their hard work was spoiled by Santner. De Leede, who took four wickets against Pakistan, went for 21 runs in the 50th over. Earlier, the Netherlands bowlers kept the Kiwis quiet by bowling three maiden overs at the start.
Rachin on song
Last-match centurion Devon Convoy was not given the room to cut or drive and was out for a 40-ball 32. It was left to Will Young to accelerate the New Zealand innings with an 80-ball 70. Rachin Ravindra, the other hero of New Zealand’s win over England, took 24 balls to hit his first boundary, but then raced to his 50 off 51 balls before falling to a leg side catch off left-arm spinner Roelf van der Merwe.
But skipper Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell were involved in a handy partnership in the middle overs. Latham unleashed a flurry of boundaries in his 46-ball 53. So did Mitchell before Santner provided the finishing touches.
