India A paid a heavy price for their insipidness with bat and ball, losing to Bangladesh ‘A’ in the Super Over of the semi-finals of the Rising Stars Asia Cup here on Friday.

India ‘A’ bowlers faltered at the business end as Bangladesh piled on a strong 194 for six in 20 overs. In the chase, India ‘A’ looked well set to overhaul the target only for them to lose momentum and force a Super Over after a fumble in the field on the final ball helped Nehal Wadhera and Harsh Dubey to scamper for three runs.

But then India inexplicably decided to field Jitesh Sharma, Ashutosh Sharma and Ramandeep Singh at the expense of explosive openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya in the Super Over. The move backfired as both Jitesh and Ashutosh fell for naught, while Bangladesh ‘A’ chased down the one-run target after a wide bowled by Suyash Sharma, but not before losing a wicket.
