The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday extended formal invitations to the chiefs of all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces for the IPL 2025 final, scheduled to take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The grand finale will include a special tribute segment during the closing ceremony, dedicated to the exemplary courage displayed by the armed forces during the recently concluded Operation Sindoor.
Confirming the development, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI on Tuesday, "We have extended an invitation to all Indian Armed Forces chiefs top-ranked officers and soldiers for the IPL final in Ahmedabad to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor.”
Saikia said that the BCCI salutes the 'bravery, courage, and selfless service' of the country's armed forces. He lauded the 'heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor' which protected and inspired the nation.
“As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces and honor our heroes. While cricket remains a national passion, there is nothing greater than the nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country,” he added.

The top military leadership expected to grace the occasion includes General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Army Staff; Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of Air Staff.
Operation Sindoor was initiated in response to the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, at the hands of Pakistan-backed extremists. The Indian military swiftly launched a precision counteroffensive, leading to a brief but intense military escalation between the neighboring nations. The operation was brought to a halt following Pakistan’s appeal for a ceasefire, to which India responded in measured agreement.
Lauding the BCCI’s initiative, former acting BCCI president C.K. Khanna stated, “It's a gracious gesture by the BCCI to invite the three service chiefs as the armed forces have done the country proud during Operation Sindoor. We are forever indebted to our forces for keeping us safe.”
