In a heartfelt moment ahead of the Mumbai Indian’s practice session at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Friday, the team paid tribute to Rohit Sharma for completing 15 remarkable years with the franchise.

A small team gathering inside the dressing room took place, where players, support staff, and team management came together to acknowledge Rohit’s immense contribution over the years for the franchise.

Addressing the team, Rohit expressed gratitude and reflected on his growth within the franchise. “I wouldn't have learnt the art of being a leader if it were not for this franchise,” he said, thanking teammates and support staff for their unwavering support.
Rohit further added, "Without the support from Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani, this could not have been possible. They have also been behind my back, supporting me through the tough times.”
Expressing his respect for former MI captain Hardik Pandya highlighted Rohit’s influence on generations of players. “I made my debut; Booms (Bumrah) did; so many of us—we’ve made our debut under you. Thank you for inspiring so many people who have come to play for this franchise and for India,” he said.

Kieron Pollard hails Rohit Sharma’s 15-year-long contribution to Mumbai Indians
Former MI stalwart and current batting coach of MI, Kieron Pollard, also praised Rohit’s enduring legacy.
“The long journey you have had in international and franchise cricket – youngsters are blessed to have someone like you here. You’ve led this team to championships. We’ve all been behind you, and you continue to show your leadership qualities. We are privileged to have you in our dressing room,” Pollard remarked.

India’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav, while hailing the ex-skipper, said that Rohit’s milestone is “a fantastic achievement".
Yadav, while recalling his initial days with Rohit, said that “I could not spend a lot of days with you on the field when I first came to this team, but when I got back to MI again in 2018, it was a wonderful journey till now.“
