In a bizarre incident, Pollard put on a tape on his mouth after the umpires rapped him for his on-field altercation with fellow West Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Chris Gayle during Sunday's IPL match in Bangalore. Michell Starc and Keiron Pollard marred an exciting IPL match between Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede stadium on 6 may, 2014. As Starc was running in to bowl the 5th ball of the 17th over during MI's innings, Pollard, who was distracted for some reason, backed away from the crease. The Aussie pacer, however, still fired the ball at Pollard, getting the Trinidadian hot under the collar.
