Keeping to the promise of head coach Santosh Kashyap, Mumbai FC started on a winning note. The home side produced a disciplined performance to pull off a narrow 1-0 win against DSK Shivajians FC, Pune in the Maharashtra derby, an opening round I-League 2016-17 match, at the Cooperage ground yesterday.

The win was all the more precious for Mumbai as they played without a foreign recruit in their ranks. In the previous meeting between the two sides on this ground, Mumbai had won 4-0 in the concluding I-League match last season.
