Paris: French football star Karim Benzema has lost the lawsuit he filed against daily newspaper Le Monde for publishing the transcript of his interrogation as part of the investigations into his alleged involvement in a plot to blackmail his compatriot Mathieu Balbuena with a sex tape. L’Equipe reported on Monday in its online edition that the French court overturned the complaint due to a procedural error, reports Efe.

Benzema filed a complaint against Le Monde, which last December 2 published the content of his statements to the judge conducting the investigation.
The Real Madrid forward had planned to give his first interview to TF1 television on the day of publication.
