Team Mumbai got off to the best possible start in the ISL draft by snapping up veteran players like Subrata Paul and Syed Rahim Nabi. The duo will be joined by Lalrindika Ralte, Raju Gaikwad, Subash Singh, Ram Malik and Deepak Mondal.

For Nabi, a versatile midfielder, who can also play as a defender, playing for Mumbai will be a challenge in itself.

"This will be the first time I will be playing for a team outside of Kolkata. That will be a challenge for me, but God willing everything will go well," he said after the draft.

Meanwhile, his Mumbai teammate Subrata is excited to play for the league after a stint in Denmark with FC Vestsjaelland.

"I'm looking forward to playing in this league. I will give my best, like always. The ISL is a good platform and there is good amount of interest among the players about it. It will also help the national team," he said.

Mumbai's Chief Operating Officer Arunava Chaudhuri said the franchise had gone into the draft looking to build a strong Indian base.

"The aim behind picking the players that we did was to build a backbone to the team. We have been working on this for the last two weeks," Chaudhuri added.
