Barcelona defender Gerard Pique could well be heading to Chelsea, if his Colombian pop star wife Shakira has her way.

Pique is reportedly on the brink of leaving the Spanish giants and reports in Britain suggest that a move to the English Premier League is a certainty with the big three — Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea — all interested in signing the 27-year-old.

It is learnt that Old Trafford-based outfit Manchester United have offered Pique 25 million euros, while City are willing to pay 28 million euros and Chelsea are keen to splurge 30 million euros.
Going by the economics of it, the player should opt for the best deal, which is Chelsea. However, there is another and very important reason why Pique could move to London. His wife Shakira is known to have a host of friends in the English capital, and according to a report in a British tabloid, “Shakira prefers London’s heady heights to a life up north (in Manchester) and also wants to be closer to pals in the capital.”
Besides, Shakira is also keen that Pique links up with his close friend and former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas, who is doing extremely well under manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
